this is what i was thinking about when i wrote this post
I spend probably too much time in my weird brain thinking about how we never teach people any other way to feel good about themselves than to be better than someone else.
So, here’s the lesson: if you want to feel good about yourself, create and be kind.
Create a home for your pets and be kind to them. Create a fanfic and be kind to your commenters. Create a small herb garden and be kind to yourself and your plants by cooking with them but not over-harvesting. Build something you want to see in the world. Create something that didn’t used to exist, something to be proud of. Be kind to someone, and know in your heart that you made their day better, and possibly the days of everyone else they saw for a while after you helped them.
Let the time of the edgelords die. Mr. Rogers taught us better: be kind, build community, and create.
